By using the We Belong website, creating an account, booking an activity, or joining our waitlist, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use We Belong. If you host an activity, our separate Host Terms also apply to you, in addition to these.
We Belong is an online platform that connects people in The Hague with local hobby activities and the hosts who run them. We Belong is operated by Christopher Tremlett, based in The Hague, Netherlands. In these terms, "We Belong", "we", "us", and "our" refer to that operator; "you" refers to anyone who uses the platform.
We Belong is a marketplace and an introduction service. We provide the platform that lets hosts list activities and lets seekers (the people who book those activities) find and request a place. We Belong does not own, run, supervise, or control any activity, and we are not the organiser or provider of any activity. Activities are created, described, priced, and delivered by independent hosts. When you book, any resulting agreement is directly between you and the host. We Belong is not a party to that agreement. We Belong does not deliver activities and does not act as anyone's agent in providing them. The one exception is payment: where We Belong collects payment for a booking, it does so only as the host's agent for the limited purpose of collecting that payment on the host's behalf, as described in section 5.
The platform is still developing. Features described on this website represent our current product and may change, be added, or be removed over time.
You must be at least 18 years old to use We Belong, create an account, book an activity, or sign up for our waitlist. By using this website, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide about yourself is accurate.
To book activities and use our community features, you create an account using your email address and a password, or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity that takes place under your account. Please let us know promptly at info@webelong.nl if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
You can edit your profile or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or remove an account that breaches these terms, is used unlawfully, or puts other members or the platform at risk. How we handle the personal data linked to your account is explained in our Privacy Policy.
If you submit your email address to join our waitlist, or to be notified when a specific activity gets a date, we use it only for that purpose. This creates no obligation on either side, and you can unsubscribe or ask to be removed at any time by emailing info@webelong.nl.
You can browse activities and request a place. A booking request is not confirmed until the host accepts it. Until then, your place is not guaranteed. The host may accept or decline a request at their discretion, and we will email you to let you know the outcome. When the host accepts, we share your booking details with the host so they can confirm your place.
The price is set by the host and shown on the listing, inclusive of any tax the host must charge. Booking means you agree to the price and to the host's stated rules for that activity, including its description, location, timing, requirements, and cancellation policy — read these before you book. The host is solely responsible for the activity itself, including its content, safety, quality, accuracy of the listing, and for meeting any legal or insurance requirements that apply to it.
How payment works. Payment is either collected directly by the host, or collected through We Belong using a third-party payment provider (currently Stripe), as your payment-collection agent acting on the host's behalf. The host remains the supplier and seller of the activity to you. Paying We Belong or its payment provider settles what you owe the host for that booking, so you will not be asked to pay the host again for it. Your card statement or receipt may show We Belong, or its payment provider, as the party that took the payment; this reflects only that we collected it on the host's behalf, and does not make We Belong the seller or provider of the activity. Any VAT on the activity is the host's responsibility and is included in the price the host sets. Any receipt or invoice for the activity itself comes from the host, who is the supplier of the activity to you.
We Belong is not a travel agency and does not organise package travel. Every booking is for one activity with one independent host; we do not combine activities with transport, accommodation, or other travel services into a package. Because of this, We Belong does not act as an organiser or retailer of package travel within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2015/2302 on package travel and linked travel arrangements, transposed in the Netherlands in Title 7A (the Reisovereenkomst provisions) of Book 7 of the Burgerlijk Wetboek. Where a host separately arranges something like transport as part of running their own activity, that arrangement remains the host's, not a package put together by We Belong.
This matters most for physical, outdoor, or skill-based activities.
You are responsible for confirming that you, and anyone you book for or bring with you, meet the requirements for an activity, including any stated minimum age, health, fitness, experience, or other conditions. Ask the host before you book if anything is unclear.
You must tell the host, before the session, of any medical condition, physical condition, injury, allergy, pregnancy, or other circumstance that could affect your ability to take part safely, or that the host needs to know to keep everyone safe. If unsure whether an activity is right for you, seek advice from a doctor or a qualified professional first.
Only people who hold a confirmed booking may take part. If you want to bring someone else, they must be included in the booking.
Many activities carry risks that are a natural part of the activity itself: a cooking class involves heat and knives, a hike or paddle involves the outdoors and water, a craft or sport involves tools or physical effort. You take part in any activity voluntarily and accept the ordinary risks that come with it. You agree to follow the host's reasonable safety instructions, use equipment as instructed and flag anything that seems unsafe straight away, take reasonable care of your own safety and that of others, and stop and tell the host if you feel unwell or unable to continue safely.
This section asks you to accept the ordinary, disclosed risks of an activity you chose. It does not ask you to give up any right you have under Dutch law, and it does not excuse a host from responsibility for their own negligence, unsafe conduct, or failing to meet the safety standards they are required to meet.
We Belong does not verify the identity, background, qualifications, or conduct of any host or member, and we do not carry out background checks. We are not responsible for the conduct, actions, content, safety, or omissions of hosts or members, whether online or in person. To the extent permitted by law, you release We Belong from any claims arising out of disputes or incidents between you and a host or another member.
If you book for, or bring, a person under 18, you must be legally entitled to act for them, and you are fully responsible for supervising them during the activity, unless the listing clearly states the activity is run for unaccompanied minors and describes how they are supervised. You are responsible for the actions of anyone you bring. Where a listing states an age requirement, you must respect it.
If you book for or bring someone under 18, on data: the account holder making the booking is the adult We Belong contracts with under these terms. If a minor is included as a participant, we typically collect their first name and age or date of birth from the responsible adult, so the host can run the activity safely and appropriately for them. This data reaches We Belong only via the responsible adult, never directly from the minor. See the Privacy Policy for how it is handled.
Each listing displays the host's cancellation policy before you book. You can cancel a pending request or a confirmed booking from your My bookings page.
The cancellation tiers. One of the following applies, chosen by the host:
Activities without a fixed date, such as interest lists, are fully refundable when cancelled. A request that the host has not yet confirmed has not been charged, so there is nothing to refund.
If the host cancels a confirmed booking, you are entitled to a full refund, whatever the tier. The host should give as much notice as possible and help you rebook.
If you do not turn up, no refund is due. A confirmed booking holds a place that the host has set aside for you, and often turned someone else away for. So if you do not attend a session you booked, or you arrive too late to take part, the booking counts as used and no refund is owed. If you know you cannot make it, cancel in advance from your My bookings page and the tier above decides what comes back to you. Arriving late does not automatically mean a refund: hosts will include you where they reasonably can, but many activities cannot be joined once they have started.
Covered Issues: when you are owed a refund regardless of the tier. This applies where the host cancels (unless caused by you); the host does not turn up, or is more than 15 minutes late; the activity is substantially different from what was described or agreed; the venue or equipment is inadequate, missing, or unsafe; or the host behaves unsafely or unlawfully. Where this disrupts an activity, you are entitled to a full or partial refund depending on how much was affected. Raise it with the host first, then, if unresolved, report it to info@webelong.nl within 72 hours of the activity, with any evidence. This does not take away any stronger right you have under mandatory consumer law.
Major disruptive events (force majeure). Sometimes an activity cannot go ahead, or cannot go ahead safely or lawfully, because of an event outside either side's control that could not reasonably have been foreseen or avoided: severe weather, a natural disaster, a public emergency, a government restriction, a serious transport failure, or the serious illness of the host. Where such an event prevents an activity, or makes it unsafe or unlawful, the booking can be cancelled and you refunded in full, whatever the tier, with no host cancellation penalty. This does not cover simply changing your mind, nor does it cover seasonal weather or health conditions that are ordinarily foreseeable for the activity's location and time of year — for example, a spell of rain in the Netherlands in autumn, or seasonal flu, which the activity is expected to plan around.
Changing a booking. If you and the host agree to change a booking (a new date, time, or number of places), you are both responsible for the change you agree, including any price or tax difference. A change agreed between you replaces the original booking on the terms you agree.
There is no 14-day cooling-off period for dated activities. Under Dutch and EU consumer law, services related to leisure activities that are booked for a specific date or period are excluded from the usual 14-day right of withdrawal that applies to distance purchases (Book 6, Title 5, Section 2B BW, implementing the EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU). The rules above apply instead. Activities without a fixed date are not affected by this.
Any refund you are owed is calculated against the host's cancellation policy. Where the host collected payment directly, the host issues the refund. Where We Belong collected payment on the host's behalf, the refund is returned to you through the platform's payment provider.
We Belong includes optional community features. If your profile is set to be visible, other seekers booked onto the same session can see a limited public profile, namely your first name, profile photo, and interests, so that people attending the same activity can recognise and connect with one another. Members can send each other connection requests and, once connected, exchange messages through the platform.
You control this. You can turn off your visibility to other members at any time in your profile settings, and you do not have to accept any connection request or reply to any message. Where you interact with other members through these features, you do so at your own risk: we do not verify members beyond the host verification described in our Host Terms, and we are not responsible for the conduct of members. Messages and connections are between members; We Belong does not monitor every interaction, but we may review reported content and remove it or suspend accounts where appropriate.
When you use We Belong, whether through the website, email, bookings, or community features, you agree not to:
If you damage a host's property or equipment through your own fault, the host may ask you to put it right or cover the reasonable cost, and you agree to deal with such a request in good faith directly with the host.
Nondiscrimination. We Belong does not tolerate discrimination on the basis of race or ethnicity, national or ethnic origin, religion or belief, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, pregnancy or having children, or marital or civil status, whether by a seeker toward a host, a host toward a seeker, or between members. This mirrors the standard set out in the Algemene wet gelijke behandeling (General Equal Treatment Act) and is enforced the same way for everyone on the platform.
You can report a member, message, or listing to us at info@webelong.nl. We reserve the right to remove any content, booking, or account that breaches these standards, without being required to give reasons.
We want every activity to be a good one, but we do not control what happens in a session. If an activity is disrupted, unsafe, or substantially different from what was described:
We may, at our discretion, help by clarifying what a listing said, passing on information, or mediating informally. We are not an arbitrator and not a party to the agreement between you and the host.
Reporting content you believe is illegal or breaks our rules (Article 16, Digital Services Act). Separately from a problem with a specific activity, you can report a listing, review, message, or other content by emailing info@webelong.nl. We aim to review a report and act on it, or tell you why we have not, within 5 working days.
Appealing a decision we made about your own content (Article 15(1)(d), Digital Services Act). If we remove or restrict something you posted, we will tell you why, where we are required to, and you can ask us to review that decision by emailing info@webelong.nl within 30 days. We aim to respond within 5 working days.
Taking it further (Article 21, Digital Services Act). If you are not satisfied with how we handled a report or an appeal, you may be entitled to refer the matter to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body. We Belong has not yet designated a specific body for this; email us and we will point you to the right place.
After an activity you attended, you may be able to leave a rating and review. Your review must be honest and based on your own experience, and must not contain discriminatory, offensive, defamatory, or otherwise unlawful content. We do not edit reviews to change their meaning, but we may remove one that breaks our standards.
You keep ownership of content you submit. You grant We Belong a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, and use it to operate, improve, and promote the platform.
All content on this website, including text, images, logos, and design, is owned by or licensed to We Belong. You may not reproduce, copy, or redistribute any part of this website without our written permission.
When you submit content to the platform, such as a profile, photo, message, application, or review, you keep ownership of it and you grant We Belong a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and use that content for the purpose of operating, improving, and promoting the platform. You confirm that you have the right to share any content you submit and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
How we handle your personal data is set out in full in our Privacy Policy. In short: when you make a confirmed booking, we share your booking details with the host so they can run the session, and the host receives that information as an independent data controller, bound by the handling rules in the Privacy Policy.
Submitting a host application does not guarantee acceptance onto the platform. We Belong reviews all applications individually and reserves the right to accept or decline any application at its sole discretion, without being required to give reasons.
If your application is accepted, our separate Host Terms and Host Privacy Policy also apply, covering the specifics of listing activities, commission, payments, cancellations, safety standards, and platform conduct. These apply in addition to these Terms before you go live on the platform.
The We Belong website and platform are provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep them accurate and running, but we make no warranties about the completeness, reliability, suitability, or availability of the site, its content, or any activity listed on it.
Because We Belong is an introduction service and not the provider of any activity, we are not liable for the activities themselves or for any act or omission of a host or member. Responsibility for an activity, its safety, and its delivery rests with the host, not with We Belong.
How our liability is limited. To the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, wilful misconduct, or gross negligence, by We Belong; (b) for any other loss, our liability is limited to loss that was a reasonably foreseeable consequence of the specific failure in question, and in any event our total liability for such losses will not exceed the greater of the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or €100; (c) we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Dutch law.
We Belong relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own terms and privacy policy:
We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties. How they handle your data is described further in our Privacy Policy.
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of We Belong will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of The Hague, Netherlands. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EU/EEA, this does not take away the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Where a change is material, we will highlight it on this page and, where we hold your email, notify you directly. Continued use of the platform after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
If you have any questions about these Terms of Service, please contact us at info@webelong.nl.
