These Host Terms apply to anyone who lists or runs an activity on We Belong. They are in addition to our general Terms of Service, which also apply to you. By submitting a host application, publishing a listing, or accepting a booking, you agree to these Host Terms. If you do not agree, please do not host on We Belong.
We Belong is an online platform that connects people in The Hague with local hobby activities and the hosts who run them. We Belong is operated by Christopher Tremlett, based in The Hague, Netherlands. In these terms, "We Belong", "we", "us", and "our" refer to that operator; "you" and "host" refer to anyone who lists or runs an activity on the platform; "seeker" refers to anyone who books an activity.
We Belong is a marketplace and an introduction service. We provide the tools that let you list activities, receive booking requests, communicate with seekers, and manage your schedule. You are an independent host. You are not an employee, partner, agent, or representative of We Belong, and we are not the organiser or provider of your activity. When a seeker books, the agreement to deliver the activity is directly between you and that seeker. We Belong is not a party to that agreement.
The platform is still developing. Features described here and in your host dashboard represent our current product and may change, be added, or be removed over time. Where this happens, we will keep these terms up to date.
To host on We Belong you must be at least 18 years old and legally able to provide your activity in the Netherlands. Submitting a host application does not guarantee acceptance. We review every application individually and may accept or decline any application at our sole discretion, without being required to give reasons.
Before your listing goes live, we verify each host, which includes identity verification and a personal conversation. You agree to give accurate, complete, and current information about yourself and your activity, and to keep it up to date.
You are responsible for your own legal and tax position. If you host regularly or earn income from your activity, Dutch law may treat this as a business, which can require registration with the Chamber of Commerce (KVK) and may have income tax and VAT (BTW) consequences. Arranging any registrations, permits, licences, and tax filings that apply to you is your responsibility. We can point you in the right direction during onboarding, but we do not give legal, accounting, or tax advice.
You stay in control of your hosting. Through your host dashboard, you decide and can change at any time:
What we keep responsibility for is the platform itself: how listings are presented, ordered, and displayed, the booking and messaging tools, and the standards that listings must meet. To keep the marketplace consistent and trustworthy, we may format, lightly edit for clarity, decline to publish, or remove a listing that is inaccurate, unlawful, unsafe, misleading, or that breaches these terms or our content guidelines. Where reasonable, we will tell you why. We do not change your prices, your schedule, or your cancellation policy without your agreement.
You are solely responsible for everything in your listing being accurate and lawful, including the description, location, timing, price, requirements, and any claims you make. You confirm you have the rights to any content and images you upload.
When a seeker requests a place, the request is sent to you and is not confirmed until you accept it. You may accept or decline each request at your discretion, provided you do not discriminate unlawfully. When you accept, We Belong notifies the seeker and shares their booking details with you, namely their name, email address, phone number (if given), and any message, so you can confirm the place, contact them, and arrange payment.
Once you accept a booking, you commit to delivering the activity as described, at the time and place listed, to the seekers who hold confirmed places. You are responsible for honouring confirmed bookings, communicating clearly and promptly, and running your activity safely and professionally.
You act as an independent data controller for the seeker information you receive, and you must use it only to manage that booking. Your data responsibilities are set out in section 11 and in our Host Privacy Policy.
You set your own prices, shown on each listing and inclusive of any taxes you are required to charge. We Belong does not currently process payments and does not hold or transfer money on your behalf. Payment for a confirmed booking is arranged and collected by you, directly from the seeker, separately from the platform. You are the merchant for your activity, and you are responsible for collecting payment, issuing any receipts or invoices, and accounting for your own taxes.
VAT on your activity is yours, not ours. If you are registered for VAT (BTW) in the Netherlands, the price you set is treated as including any VAT you must charge on the activity, and you alone are responsible for charging it, showing it where required, and paying it to the Belastingdienst. We Belong acts only as an intermediary that introduces seekers to you and helps arrange the booking. We Belong is not the supplier, reseller, or organiser of your activity, and for VAT and every other purpose you are the sole supplier of the activity to the seeker. Whether you need to register for VAT, and the rate at which your activity is taxed, depends on your own circumstances. You should take your own tax advice, as We Belong does not give tax advice.
We may introduce in-platform payment processing and payouts in the future. If we do, we will give you advance notice and updated terms before any change to how money is collected, including how our commission would then be deducted.
It is free to list on We Belong. There is no subscription, no membership fee, and no upfront or listing cost. We only earn when you do.
When a booking is confirmed, We Belong charges a commission of 15% of the activity price for that booking. There are no other We Belong fees beyond this commission.
Our commission is quoted exclusive of VAT. Where We Belong is required to charge it, Dutch VAT (BTW) at the applicable rate, currently 21%, is added to the commission and shown separately on the invoice we send you. So a 15% commission on a €100 booking is €15, plus €3.15 VAT, making €18.15. If you are registered for VAT you can normally reclaim that €3.15 on your own return, so it is not a real extra cost to you, only a timing difference. If you are not registered for VAT, you cannot reclaim it. If and for as long as We Belong is not required to charge VAT, for example while we are within the Dutch small business scheme (the KOR), no VAT is added to the commission, and we will give you advance notice before that changes. We will always issue a proper VAT invoice for the commission, so you have what you need for your own records.
Because payment is currently collected by you directly (section 5), the commission on your confirmed bookings is invoiced to you by We Belong, normally on a monthly basis, and is payable within the period stated on the invoice. Commission is calculated on the activity price paid by the seeker and does not apply to bookings that are properly cancelled and refunded in full under the applicable cancellation policy. We will always show your commission clearly. We may change the commission rate in the future, but only with reasonable advance notice, and any change applies to bookings made after it takes effect, never retroactively.
Any third-party costs you choose to take on, such as a KVK registration (a one-off fee of €82.25 at the time of writing), insurance, materials, or venue hire, are yours and are not paid to or set by We Belong.
Each listing displays a cancellation policy, which you choose from the following tiers and which seekers agree to when they book:
Activities without a fixed date, such as interest lists, are fully refundable when cancelled. A request you have not yet accepted has not been charged, so there is nothing to refund. Because We Belong does not process payments, you calculate any refund owed against your chosen policy and issue it directly to the seeker.
If you cancel a confirmed booking, you must refund the seeker in full for that booking, regardless of the cancellation tier, since the tiers apply to seeker-initiated cancellations. We ask that you only cancel confirmed bookings in genuine cases of necessity, give the seeker as much notice as possible, and help them rebook where you can. Repeated or last-minute host cancellations harm seekers and the platform, and may lead to your listings being paused or your account suspended under section 12.
Because the agreement to deliver an activity is directly between you and the seeker, disputes about an activity, a payment, a refund, or conduct during a session are, in the first instance, to be resolved between you and the seeker in good faith. You agree to deal with seekers fairly and to respond to their concerns promptly.
We Belong is not a party to that agreement and is not an arbitrator. However, we want the community to work, so we may, at our discretion and without obligation, help by passing on information, clarifying what a listing said, or mediating informally. You can report a seeker, a message, or an incident to us at info@webelong.nl, and we may review reported content and remove it or suspend accounts where appropriate. Any decision we make about content, listings, or accounts is made in our reasonable discretion.
For any dispute between you and We Belong, we ask that you first contact us at info@webelong.nl so we can try to resolve it directly. If we cannot, the dispute is governed by Dutch law and subject to the courts of The Hague, as set out in section 14.
When you host on We Belong, you agree to:
We Belong does not supervise, control, or guarantee any activity, and we do not carry out background checks beyond the verification described in section 2. Responsibility for the activity, its safety, and its delivery rests with you.
You keep ownership of the content you submit, such as your listings, photos, profile, and messages. You grant We Belong a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, reproduce, and use that content for the purpose of operating, improving, and promoting the platform, including marketing your activities. You confirm you have the right to grant this licence and that your content does not infringe anyone else's rights.
Seekers may rate and review activities they attend. Reviews reflect the views of the seekers who write them. We do not edit reviews to change their meaning, but we may remove reviews that breach our standards, and we may display ratings and reviews on your listing and across the platform.
The We Belong name, logo, website, and design are owned by or licensed to We Belong, and you may not use them except to promote your presence on the platform in line with any brand guidance we provide.
When We Belong shares a seeker's booking details with you, you receive that personal data as an independent data controller and you are responsible for handling it lawfully under the GDPR and Dutch law. You must use it only to manage the relevant booking, keep it secure, not use it for unrelated marketing without a lawful basis, and delete it when it is no longer needed. How We Belong handles your data as a host, and your responsibilities for seeker data, are set out in our Host Privacy Policy.
You can stop hosting at any time by pausing or removing your listings or by asking us to close your host account. You remain responsible for honouring or fairly resolving any confirmed bookings and any commission owed up to that point.
We may suspend or remove a listing or a host account, with notice where reasonable, if you breach these terms, if your activity is unsafe or unlawful, if you repeatedly cancel confirmed bookings, if you attempt to take bookings or payments off-platform to avoid commission, or if your conduct puts seekers, members, or the platform at risk. Where the issue is serious, we may act immediately.
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep it running and accurate, but we make no warranty that bookings, traffic, or income will reach any level, or that the platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Because you are the independent provider of your activity, you are responsible for it, and you agree to indemnify We Belong against claims, losses, or costs arising from your activity, your content, your breach of these terms, or your breach of the law. To the fullest extent permitted by law, We Belong is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, including lost bookings or income, arising from your use of the platform. Where We Belong is found liable to you, our total liability will not exceed the greater of the commission we received from you in the 12 months before the claim, or 100 euros. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Dutch law.
These Host Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of We Belong will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of The Hague, Netherlands.
We may update these Host Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and we will give reasonable notice of significant changes, such as a change to commission. Continued hosting after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
If you have any questions about these Host Terms, please contact us at info@webelong.nl.
