Legal · For hosts
Last updated: 9 June 2026
This policy explains what personal data We Belong collects from hosts, why, and how it is used, and it sets out your own responsibilities when you receive a seeker's details. It works alongside our general Privacy Policy. We Belong is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Dutch law.
We Belong is operated by Christopher Tremlett, based in The Hague, Netherlands. For the host data described in this policy, We Belong is the data controller. You can contact us at any time at info@webelong.nl.
Host applications
When you apply through our Become a Host page, we collect your name and email address, a description of the activity you would like to host, information about yourself, your background, and your experience, any supporting files you upload, and an optional link to your website, Instagram, or portfolio. We use this to review your application and contact you. The legal basis is your consent, given when you submit the form, and our legitimate interest in assessing hosts.
Verification and onboarding
Before you go live, we verify each host. This includes identity verification and a personal conversation, and may include a call booked through Calendly. We process the information you provide for verification to confirm who you are, keep the community safe, and decide whether to approve your listing. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a trustworthy marketplace and, where needed, compliance with our legal obligations.
Host account and dashboard
When your host account is created, we collect and store your email address and the host profile details you add, such as your display name, photo, tagline, bio, and founding year. You sign in with your email address and a password, or with "Continue with Google". Passwords are stored securely as salted hashes by our authentication provider and are never visible to us. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture so we can create and identify your account, used only to create and secure it. We Belong's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Listings, bookings, and earnings
We process the content of your listings, the booking requests you receive, your acceptance and decline messages, your cancellation policy, and records relating to your earnings and the commission you owe. We use this to operate the platform, manage bookings, present your listings, and account for commission. The legal basis is the performance of our agreement with you under the Host Terms.
Messages and support
We process messages you exchange with seekers and with us through the platform, and any correspondence you send to info@webelong.nl, so we can run the messaging feature, provide support, and resolve reported issues.
When you accept a booking, We Belong shares the seeker's booking details with you, namely their name, email address, phone number (if given), the session or option chosen, the listed price, and any message they include, so you can confirm the place, contact them, and arrange payment.
For the seeker data you receive, you act as your own independent data controller. You are responsible for handling it lawfully under the GDPR and Dutch law.
This means you agree to:
If a seeker asks We Belong to have a host delete the data the host holds, we will pass that request on to you, and you agree to act on it. Your own collection and use of seeker data is your responsibility, and you should have your own privacy practices in place where the law requires them.
Host application form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, our website hosting provider, on servers within the United States, covered by Netlify's compliance with EU data transfer regulations (netlify.com/privacy). Host accounts, profiles, listings, bookings, messages, and earnings records are stored by Supabase, which provides our authentication and database (supabase.com/privacy). Account, booking, and platform emails are delivered through Resend (resend.com/legal/privacy-policy), and onboarding calls may be scheduled through Calendly under its own privacy policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
You can delete your host account yourself at any time. Sign in to your dashboard, open your profile, and choose Delete my account. This removes your host profile, your listings, your photos, your identity document, and any Google sign-in data. Bookings stay with the seekers who made them, with your details removed. You cannot delete your account while you still have upcoming bookings on future sessions, so please cancel or complete those first. Some records relating to bookings, commission, and tax may be retained where the law requires it. If you would rather we did it for you, you can still email info@webelong.nl.
As a resident of the EU or EEA, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, withdrawal of consent, and objection in relation to the personal data we hold about you as a host. You can exercise your right to erasure yourself at any time using Delete my account in your dashboard profile. To exercise any of these rights, or if you would prefer we acted for you, email info@webelong.nl and we will respond within 30 days. If you feel your rights have not been respected, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
We may update this Host Privacy Policy as We Belong grows and new features, including in-platform payments, are introduced. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
For any questions about this Host Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at info@webelong.nl.
